Weingut Fuchs was founded in 1626; the family winery is located in Floersheim-Dalsheim in the South of the Rheinhessen region (Germany).
Both vintners are in their wine making profession out of real conviction.
Cultivation of the vines, work in the wine cellars and bottling of the wines are the responsibility of those two wine enthusiasts.
A small team of local employees assist the vintners in their work in the vineyards, in the cellars and in distribution.
The spouses Carla Bayer and Hildegard Fuchs ensure, that the shipments work, the website is up-to-date and in the office everything runs smoothly. Furthermore, the ladies take care of the winery’s social media presence.
With all due enthusiasm for all their wines the vintners’ favourite wines are quite different:
Hans-Jakob loves dry wines – the drier the better. His special passion are the red wine cuvées. Hans-Jakob’s favourites are:
Furthermore, he loves the Pinot Blanc brut champagne, especially with fish and seefood.
Sebastian is a lover of sweet wines. All of his favourites are sweet red wines, only the Merlot is much less sweet than the others:
Both the ladies in Weingut Fuchs share their husbands’ taste in wine:
Carla prefers sweet wines. Her favourites are the sweet white dessert wines and the red dessert wines. Furthermore, the sweet Bacchus Kabinett with its rich bouquet is one of her favourites.
Just like Hans-Jakob, Hildegard prefers very dry wines, but dry white wines rather than red ones. As she loves Riesling wines with pronounced acidity best, the team makes often fun of the fact, that the wines of Weingut Fuchs due to their mild acidity are not really suitable for her. Nevertheless, she really enjoys the dry Riesling and she certainly won’t say “no” to a glass of Pinot Blanc brut champagne.
The winery cultivates vines on about ca. 30 ha: about 50% white and 50% red grapes.
The vineyards are located in two wine-growing regions: Rheinhessen und Pfalz. In the Rheinhessen region “Wonnegau” the vineyards are located in the villages Dalsheim, Niederfloersheim, Monsheim and Wachenheim. The vineyards in the Pfalz region are located in the adjacent Zellertal in the villages Zell, Niefernheim and Einselthum.
